"We like to give people the opportunity to do something different, escape their hectic lives and reconnect with food and the outdoors"
Relocating from the city to the countryside is something that many of us dream of. This is the story of Bod and Annie Griffiths and their bespoke country skills and cookery school, Vale House Kitchen. The idea for this creative culinary space was conceived in 2011. After a hectic couple of decades living and working in the bustle of London, they decided to take the plunge and escape to the country:
“We like to give people the opportunity to do something different, escape our hectic lives and reconnect with food and the outdoors”.
Bod had been passionate about shooting and fishing since childhood. After moving with Annie to Vale House, he was keen to find a way to combine his love of the outdoors with his passion for business and working with other people. On returning from a fishing trip and enjoying a meal where everything on the plate came from their own veg garden and the local river, Bod and Annie knew they had found the simple ‘from field to fork’ philosophy that would soon evolve into Vale House Kitchen. Plans were drawn up for the conversion of a stone outbuilding into a state-of-the-art cookery school, which opened in Summer 2013.
